The many of adventures of... my toilet :)

Life here in Niger is always an adventure - and the short-termer who has been living with me the past two months can attest to the never-boring lifestyle that I am lucky enough to have :)

There are tricks with the doorhandles, the light switches, the fridge, the fans, the sinks and showers.. and of course there is my oven (requires the aid of a stick on fire)... But today - our minds were concerned mostly by the toilets.

I woke up this morning (those of you who know me well know that is a joke ;) Mornings are so not my thing! So I go to flush the toilet and the bobber thing on top pulls right out so I take off the lid on the back of the toilet in order to reattach it - only to be totally soaked by the hose inside. Oh yeah.. I forgot I had it duct-taped closed for a reason... in my sleepy state I was so confused... I replaced the lid and went off to find my roommate to ask for help  :)

She (being a morning person and thus awake) says just turn off the water ... ahem - good idea! Oh, but wait that piece is broken... not an option :( So we manage to figure out what the problem is (ie what broke inside).  We managed to jerry rig it to stop spraying for the day - as our meetings wouldn't wait...

But alas - at 10pm we got back home and came up with a valiant plan... it has been a terribly long day - so we figured we needed a good laugh anyway - and hoped to fix the problem along the way :)

The culprit!

We managed to solve the original problem with some good old fashioned duct tape.. and being awake to use some common sense :) Then we set out to fix the leak!

 The victim: a bowl :)

 Success!!

 Nope, no more leaks!
