I have been given a few different opportunities in the past couple weeks to share in French. It is always such a privilege to share with others from the Word. It was both encouraging as I studied, and good application of my French studies :-) I spoke in the chapel at our school and I was able to spend an hour with the middle school students at a local church here. It was awesome to be able to encourage them to start living there faith out here and now! There is no reason to wait until you are "older." We had a great time of discussion and learning together!
I have been spending a lot of time in 1 Peter. I love the part that talks about the Living Hope we have been given in Christ. Our hope is not in anything here on this earth, not in any person here, no circumstance, no job. Those are all temporary and are sure to disappoint. But in Christ, we have a hope that is alive! He is active in our lives and He will never fail. His Word will never fail. He will be faithful to that which He has promised - because He is alive! Our hope is in Him - and Him alone. I have been so encouraged to continue to look to Him for all of my hope, rather than looking at my circumstances and hoping in something temporay that is sure to let me down.
Let's live this hope to the world, who so desperately needs it! We have the most incredible gift in Christ - let us share Him, His love, His hope, in all we do and with all we meet! I pray that each of us would be overflowing with Him so that people cannot help but notice Him!!
I also have been blessed to get to know the Juric family. They are here because of the father's job, and are just trying to live out their faith here in France as a family. They have had many health struggles this year, and now Minnette has her turn as she battles with cancer. The chemo has so far been very effective, but please keep her and her family in your prayers as they seek to honor the Lord through this next year! Their attitudes are incredible and I know that God has some amazing plans for them all!
