In the Makalondi area, whenever a church has a baptism service - all the churches in the area gather to celebrate with them! Today there were 2 churches that had a total of 48 - YES 48 people baptized!!! I met my best friend Gninley at her compound this morning so we could walk over together. While she and her sister, Monique picked different “edible” things off of trees for me to try - I passed out some peanut butter crackers for them to try ;-) Something new for everyone today ;-)
Here we are chilling and waiting (of course it started about an hour late) :-) In accordance with cultural norms - the men and women gathered to wait under separate trees :-)
After the service we all went back to one of the churches to have the service and share lunch together. What an incredible blessing to be part of something so special! In the churches around here, they generally allow people to participate in communion only once they have been baptized - so today I had the privilege of sharing in this special sacrament with 48 brothers and sisters for their first time!
