Wow! I can’t believe I’ve been here over 5 months already! Life has been one new adventure after another. But I am finally starting to settle into a routine, only returning to Niamey every other weekend. It’s been good settling into my home and into life in Makalondi.
Specifically ministry wise - I have really enjoyed getting to know a lot of the youth who live nearby. Now that school is out, they have been coming by almost everyday to play frisbee or soccer for a couple hours in the evening. It’s becoming a cool outreach time as well!
I’ve been learning my way around Maka a little bit, visiting “the garage” where you can buy a few things and the market on mondays. I also have been going the church near my place a few times a week and getting to know some families from there as well :-)
It’s always interesting seeing what works and what doesn’t each day, what is rusted, what the termites have begun eating, what bugs are invading where. Really - something new everyday :-)
Here is part of a song that I have loved recently by Tim Hughes:
In view of God’s mercy, I offer my all. Take my life and let it be, everything, all of me - Here I am, use me for your glory! In everything I say and do, let my life honor you! Here I am living for your glory! The road I’m on leads nowhere without you and the life I live finds meaning and surrender. In view of God’s mercy, I offer my all!
